An Update On the Status of Tokyo Disneyland Resort

Oriental Land Company has announced that all of Tokyo Disney Resort will be closed indefinitely due to lack of electricity and other concerns. Oriental Land Company had previously announced that Tokyo Disney Resort would re-open on March 21st. OLC has also reported that there was no major damage to any buildings or facilities. They did state that there was flooding in the parking lots of Tokyo Disney Resort. The hotels are also closed and will be re-opened when the parks re-open. All parts of Tokyo Disney Resort will remain closed until Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea re-open. Here is the full report from OLC:

Effects as of March 18 of the Tohoku Pacific Earthquake

Oriental Land Co., Ltd. would first like to send our heartfelt condolences to all those
affected by the Tohoku Pacific Earthquake on March 11, 2011.   From our heart, we
pray for the  health and  well-being of everyone, and hope for the earliest possible
recovery of the affected areas.

We would also like to notify the effects of the earthquake on our company, summarized
as follows:
1. Casualties and Damages

(1) Casualties
As previously notified on  March 14,  there have been no injuries or casualties
reported among our guests, Cast Members and other employees.

(2) Damages
a. Tokyo Disneyland / Tokyo DisneySea Parks
There  was no major damage to buildings and facilities, nor  was there any
ground liquefaction*
inside the Parks except for a  portion of the parking
area.   Following full inspections, the safety of all buildings and facilities
inside the Parks  has been confirmed and  the Parks are  in condition for
re-opening.
However, due to the lack of stable electricity supply and other concerns, we
have determined to further postpone the opening of the Parks.  The
reopening of the Parks will be duly announced when the date has been
determined.
*: Liquefaction has only occurred in a portion of the flat parking areas.    Recovery efforts
are swiftly underway.

b. Disney Hotels
There  was no major damage to the buildings or facilities.  Also, work on
confirming the safety of the hotels has been completed.
The date of re-opening is not yet determined, as the hotels are scheduled to reopen at the same time as the Parks.

c. Ikspiari
There  was no major damage to the buildings or facilities. Also, work on
confirming the safety of Ikspiari has been completed.
The date of re-opening is not yet determined.

d. Disney Resort Line
There was no major damage to the buildings or facilities.    Although there is
no impediment to the monorail  operations, the date of resuming operations
will be  determined depending on the status of the other facilities within
Tokyo Disney Resort.

e. Cirque du Soleil Theatre Tokyo
Although there was no major damage to the building or facilities, inspection
of the equipment is still ongoing.
The date of re-opening is not yet determined.

2. Effects on our Business Results
Effects from this earthquake to our buildings and facilities were negligible.  We are
currently reviewing the ramifications to our business results due to the clossure of the
Parks and other facilities

Tokyo DisneySea's Fantasmic Rehearsal Footage

(Spoiler Alert: Do not watch this if you do not want to know what characters are in Tokyo DisneySea's version of Fantasmic.)

Unconfirmed Concept Artwork for Shanghai Disneyland

All Artwork ©Disney

This first picture above was published on Tim Delaney's website under illustrations for a new Disney theme park and has since been taken down from the website. The picture was published with the words Pirates of the Caribbean and rumors are going around that it is for the new Shanghai Disneyland park. It would make sense because in the picture below, in the lower right edge of the park, you can see a mountain that looks just like it.

This concept art above shows what the area around the Pirates of the Caribbean ride will probably look like.

This concept art above shows what Downtown Disney may look like. The area circled in the confirmed artwork shows where Downtown Disney is going to be placed. The picture also shows a monorail going through Downtown Disney which means that there probably is going to be a monorail system at Shanghai Disneyland.
The last concept art above shows what the entrance to Shanghai Disneyland might look like. It shows the mickey face made out of flowers with a sorcerer hat with brooms holding buckets while having water come out of them. It also shows a completely covered train station, something that has not been done at any other Disney theme park. This picture has since been taken down from Tim Delaney's website. Shanghai Disneyland is rumored to open in 2015 and be two to three times as big as Hong Kong Disneyland and eventually include three theme parks.
